In this role, you will weld and fabricate or repair tooling according to layout, blueprints, or work orders while complying with all safety rules and procedures.

Responsibilities:
Build, repair, troubleshoot, change over, disassemble, clean, reassemble, manufacture, modify, and maintain tooling needed in the production of rail cars as required in a timely manner.
Schedule, follow up and work with employees and vendors for fixture and tooling development, repairs and PM’s.
Suggest and make modifications to tools to increase productivity and reduce overall cost and equipment failure.
Work and complete assigned projects handed down by supervisor in set time.
Work in a safe manner and insure that all tools are in a safe working condition after all work is completed.
Must be able to read and understand tool blue prints and schematics.
Ensure that all tooling records and related paperwork are filled appropriately and kept in compliance with ISO standards.
Initiate a root cause investigation to address any major tooling damage or failure; report investigation results immediately to the Maintenance department.
Ensure completion of tooling preventive maintenance work orders (PM’s) 100% on time.
Sense of urgency in responding to manufacturing.
Must have good organizational skills; keep your work area clean and organized at all times.
Participate in department continuous improvement plans.
Other duties as assigned, with or without accommodation. Qualifications

Highly experienced welder in FCAW, STIC & MIG processes capable of equipment set-up and welding all positions; all candidates considered for this position must pass an extensive weld test.
Capable of reading, understanding and following blue prints and all weld procedures.
Advanced math and measuring skills.
Must be mechanically inclined.
Previous experience using a cutting torch preferred.
Experienced forklift operator, standard up to 55,000lbs preferred.
Overhead Crane operators, experience a plus.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and customers; must be able to perform duties with little to no supervision.

Physical Demands: Tosuccessfully perform the duties of this job, employee must have the ability tosit, walk, stand, bend, kneel, climb, reach, squat, stoop, and twist. Must also have the ability to carry, lift,pull and push from 1 – 45 lbs., with repetitive movement of both hands.
