Job Description

This individual will manage the activities of the welding technician team and be involved with the design and administration of welding programs to ensure that manufactured products meet or exceed efficiency targets, quality standards, governing codes and regulations.

Responsibilities:
Establishes functional business plans and weld engineering project objectives to meet the short and long- term goals of the organization.
Manages professional and technical support personnel and work with operations team to insure design intent is maintained including travel to various facilities.
Provides technical guidance to employees, colleagues and/or customers.
Develops, administers budgets, schedules and performance standards.
Establishes and recommends changes to policies.
Ensures that the performances of welding processes are properly carried out by qualified personnel in the plants of each business unit.
Participates in the development of welding, material standards, specifications and requirements, also coordinates with material producers to ensure compliance.
Assists business units with contract review and order fulfillment for special projects and custom material specifications requiring non-standard processing or material when called upon.
Evaluates and implements appropriate welding technology advancements into company’s production environment.
Evaluates procurement programs for welding supplies, equipment and consumables to achieve best value for business.
Leads in problem resolution involved welding or metallurgy issues when technical support is needed or assigned. Qualifications

5 to 7 years’ technical and manufacturing experience in welding and practical experience in the field of metallurgy combined with strong team management experience.
Bachelor degree in Welding Engineering or equivalent experience.
Expert knowledge of welding processes, equipment and ability to apply state of the art metals and welding technology solutions.
Working knowledge of industry standards, codes and requirements applicable to the product lines of the specific business units is helpful.
Must possess a strong ability to work with Microsoft Office products including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook.
Ability to develop, demonstrate and test welding processes and procedures.
Ability to understand and communicate complex specifications, requirements, top working documents and instructions.
Ability to function effectively on a team and maintain good working relationships in a consulting role.
