We are looking for individuals that would love to help Veterans excel in earning their degree. The Tuition Assistance Specialist would work with a great team to help provide Veterans with assistance in getting their college finance related questions answered. By working with the Veterans’ Administration, the Tuition Assistance Specialist processes and maintains all Veteran Affairs’ files and monitors and verifies their enrollment.

Position Summary:

The mission of the Tuition Assurance Specialist is to assist veterans in returning to post-secondary education. Additional responsibilities include providing information on all VA programs, procedures and student eligibility. The Tuition Assurance Specialist reports to the Financial Services Manager.

Essential Job Duties:
• Maintain all VA files for annual review purposes.
• Process TA Authorizations forms and TA Reimbursement forms.
• Advise veteran students and help resolve payment problems.
• Work with all branches of the military to do proper invoicing for tuition.
• Prepare written correspondence/reports such as letters to veterans and the VA, reports on veteran recruitment efforts, and annual report to state seeking approval to train veterans.
• Monitor and verify veteran student enrollment and report to Veterans’ Administration (VA); ensure courses are not being repeated and are a part of the approved major program; monitor students’ progress and attendance as well as submit grades when needed to certain military branches.
• Serve as liaison between veterans, VA, and University departments.
• Maintain a working knowledge of Federal, State, Military, and Institutional Policies governing Title IV student aid programs.
• Process document collection and data entry of online Veterans Affairs students.
• Have a working knowledge of Veteran Administration policy and procedures.

Communication Skills: While performing Duties of the job, the employee is required to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and memos. The employee requires the ability to write effective and detailed correspondence and to effectively present information both in one-on-one and small group situations.

Mental Demands: While performing duties of this job, the employee is required to deal with stress associated with a fast-paced work environment and multiple priorities/tasks. The employee will be required to make judgment decisions and adapt to changing work situations, grasp and apply new ideas, communicate with various personalities at all levels and have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions.

Work Environment: While performing duties of this job, the employee is required to work in an office environment, and the noise level is usually moderate to loud .
