Minimum Education and Experience:

The hiring range for this position is $71,651 - $90,000 and the salary grade equivalent is 78. ************************************************************************************************************************************************ POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Chancellor's Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship works to strengthen UNC Chapel Hills' innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem to meet the needs of faculty, students, staff, and community members as they translate their novel ideas into practical benefit for society. The I&E Office is responsible for overseeing campus-wide implementation of the University's Strategic Roadmap to Accelerate Innovation and Entrepreneurship. It does this by working closely with the Chancellor, senior administrators, faculty, students, and staff across campus, as well as alumni, parents, and friends to foster collaboration and support Carolina programs for translating ideas into action. Relative to innovation and entrepreneurship, the I&E Office is also the primary communication vehicle for the campus to connect people and resources and raise awareness of UNC Chapel Hill innovations and innovators and their impact on society. The I&E Program Manager, working under the direction of the Special Assistant to the Chancellor for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, directs the implementation of the Strategic Roadmap. The Program Manager is responsible for assisting with strategic planning, designing and executing new programs, maintaining the quality and effectiveness of existing programs (such as the Blackstone Entrepreneurs Network), connecting and developing both internal and external key strategic partners and funders, and communicating the department's activities through its website and social media tools. The Program Manager also plays a key role in fundraising for innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives by engaging and cultivating potential donors, identifying foundation or other agency sources, proposal writing, event planning, and other activities as needed. The Program Manager builds and maintains relationships with innovation/entrepreneurship representatives within colleges, departments, institutes, centers, or other UNC-affiliated programs. Those relationships are the basis for fostering collaboration, directing new projects/ideas to appropriate resources, connecting individuals, and growing a community of innovators and innovations across the campus. Additionally, the Program Manager coordinates and leads roundtables, presentations and visits to UNC by entrepreneurs, government representatives, and other universities' professors, students and staff related to its innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems. The I&E Program Manager also cultivates relationships with campus communicators, working to identify and take advantage of opportunities to promote innovation and entrepreneurship through its website, social media, blog, earned media, events and other publicity outlets. ESSENTIAL SKILLS: The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record in program development and implementation; designing and executing a global communication strategy; and in fundraising. He or she will have a high degree of emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal skills and be able to create a cohesive campus-wide innovation ecosystem of other program leaders. The person will be self-motivated, creative, collaborative, and have experience in innovation and/or entrepreneurship, preferably on a university campus.
