Job Purpose (Job Summary):
This role (which will be located in the greater NYC area) is responsible for the planning, development and implementation of all media relations and internal communications activities for Invesco’s US business, which provides investment advisory services and a wide range of investment capabilities to retail and institutional clients (including mutual funds, Invesco PowerShares exchange-traded funds, UITs, separately managed accounts, collective trusts and more).

Key Responsibilities / Duties


Collaborates with local leadership, Marketing, Sales and other parts of the business to build the reputation of Invesco and its brand among investors and financial intermediaries.

Fosters and maintains favorable relations with key media contacts in the industry, trade and financial press, and with key broadcast outlets focused on business, and acts as the firm’s representative with the media.

Provides media relations and communications counsel to the business, and collaborates with leadership to develop an appropriate internal/external response on key issues.

Oversees development and distribution of press releases, internal communications and other key documents.

Monitors media treatment of Invesco and the industry and recommends strategies for ensuring Invesco is well-represented on key issues that arise.

Works with local business heads to ensure US staff are appropriately informed regarding the firm’s progress and activities.

Serves on the local management council and supports internal communications needs for the business.

Directs the efforts of the US media relations staff and provides supportive leadership to team members.

Measures the success/effectiveness of media relations efforts on a quarterly basis.

Supports other projects as directed.


Work Experience / Knowledge:
Minimum 10 years’ experience directing the media relations activities of a US financial services firm – money management industry experience preferred.

Must have impactful contacts throughout relevant financial media, and the respect of third-party media counterparts.

Prior internal communications experience and/or marketing background a plus.

Demonstrated skill, knowledge and experience in the development and execution of media relations and communications activities.

Experience managing a staff, including hiring, training, development, supervision and appraisal of personnel.

Formal Education:
(minimum requirement to perform job duties)

Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA preferred.

Working Conditions:
This position will be based in Houston, Chicago or New York City.

Normally works a regular schedule of hours, however hours may vary depending upon the project or assignment.

Hours include evenings and/or weekends and include 24-hour-a-day on call support by pager and/or cell phone.
