Burson-Marsteller, a global leader in public relations and integrated communications seeks a US Managing Director, Social Media Strategy to lead the US Digital team to be based in New York, Chicago or Washington DC. The US Managing Director will play a critical role spearheading thought leadership for, and evangelizing the practice while serving as strategic corporate counsel to develop and drive the implementation of impactful social media programs across all US practice groups. Having exemplary command of emerging and social media trends, you’ll aid in the creation of new products and services for the agency. You will also play an integral role in cultivating and growing digital business opportunities through partnership with US practice leads, and participation in new business pitches; as well as, attracting and training a superior team of digital & social media strategists.
The right candidate will have in-depth experience in emerging media, content management, and online community engagement, developing and implementing strategies and tactical programs that influence audiences across the web and social media platforms on behalf of major national/global clients. Knowledge of traditional public relations, integrated digital marketing, and/or corporate communications experience is essential.
Responsibilities:
Design & lead complex social media strategy plans and engagement campaigns that transcend practice areas including consumer, financial, corporate and healthcare ai ding clients in interacting, monitoring and influencing their online communities via web, social media and/or mobile properties
Provide consistent strategic counsel to clients and internal teams introducing new ideas and approaches, digital best practices and tactics, and new media resources that align with client brand objectives/goals and overall business strategy
Introduce innovative ideas, deliver strategic recommendations, and broad concepts to clients and internal teams in digestible form. Develop and present social media points of view (POV’s) to senior client leadership as needed
Work collaboratively with our internal PR and digital teams, client’s marketing and communications departments, and their partner agencies to ensure successful campaign implementation, and positioning for success
Perform ongoing evaluation of client campaigns measuring success against goals utilizing internal & external research and analytics. Present data and analysis to client(s) and internal teams
Craft proposals, strategy documents, budget estimates for programs and client correspondence actively engaging in new business efforts
Evangelize Burson Digital’s capabilities and brand (internally and externally) raising our visibility and enhancing the reputation of the firm through published articles and speaker engagements
Mentor, guide and develop a cross functional team of Managing Directors across the US creating a team of solid, best-in-class social media practitioners and leaders
Key attributes will include: possessing superior verbal and written communications skills, having strong presentation skills, being self-motivated, and dedicated to achieving client satisfaction and internal goals
Qualifications:
10-15 years of experience in public relations or corporate communications, with at least 5 years focused on digital/interactive marketing and social media communications supporting national/global organizations in house or at an agency
Deep knowledge of digital & social media platforms and solutions, experience working as part of integrated marketing/inter-agency teams with the demonstrated ability to develop and present strategic and programs derived from research and analytics
Successfully sold in conceptual recommendations to tough audiences winning their buy-in
Ability to successfully sell new business, cultivate solid client relationships and lead cross functional account teams is paramount.
Experienced client service expert that has been a strategic business partner to global brands. Ideal candidates will have worked with consumer, brand, corporate, financial services, and/or professional consulting clients.
Superior verbal and written communications skills, coupled with strong presentation/selling skills, self-motivation, and dedicated to achieving client satisfaction while attaining corporate goals.
Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, advertising, communications or related discipline
