Travelers, a leading financial services company, is looking for a Surety Bond Underwriting Trainee for its Little Rock office. The Travelers Underwriting Trainee program is specifically designed to provide the individual with the foundational knowledge and skills needed to become a successful Construction Services bond underwriter. As a trainee, you will learn how to analyze and assess the operational and financial strength of companies operating in the construction industry. Through this program, you will learn to build and develop the skills needed to underwrite new and existing business, develop business relationships within your defined region, and collaborate with a team of market-segment colleagues.

Underwriting - Learn the surety bond business, including how to underwrite accounts in construction business. Underwriting requires a dynamic blend of skills including risk assessment, financial analysis, and decision making. Assist in underwriting and establishing terms in accordance with business strategies and client needs.

Marketing & Sales Management - Learn how to develop productive working relationships with colleagues, agents/brokers and construction clients in order to help Travelers maintain a profitable portfolio of business. Learn to embody a disciplined marketing and sales management approach with all customers. Begin to develop strong customer service values as well as the skills necessary to interact and effectively deal with account issues and challenges.

Strong analytical skills including an aptitude for financial statement analysis
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; sales or negotiation experience preferred
Ability to gather and analyze pertinent information in order to evaluate and arrive at a decision
Presentation skills that allow for effective communication of client benchmarking and trend analysis
Self-motivated and ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Customer Service orientation; able to effectively develop productive internal and external relationships

Undergraduate degree with a preferred GPA of 3.0 or greater
Suggested majors include Risk Management & Insurance, Finance, Economics, and Accounting
Strong accounting background is found to be beneficial in analytical skill development
Surety/insurance/financial services experience preferred but not required
