The Telemetry Unit Assistant performs certain non-complex duties related to the adolescent, adult and geriatric patient's care and functioning of the unit. Job accountabilities include, but are not limited to, obtaining vital signs, collecting urine specimens, assisting with transport of the patient, completing patient hygiene, checking monitor leads and electrodes, moving crash cart to appropriate area in patient cardiopulmonary emergencies, performing bedside glucose monitoring, maintaining patient rooms with required supplies and adhering to strict patient confidentiality.
Must have a high school diploma.
PA Nurse Aide Certification desirable.
Daily working conditions involve sustained physical effort such as lifting/moving of patients weighing up to 150 lbs.
Mobility throughout the unit required, sometimes urgently.
Risk of lost time due to accidents such as back injuries or minor injuries such as puncture wounds, cuts and abrasions.
Some exposure to occupational diseases, such as unpleasant odors, communicable diseases and blood/body fluids, is present.
Computer eye strain is possible.
May be required to work irregular hours.
