Summary of Job Content:
Performs a variety of entry-level composites fabrication operations including, but not limited to pattern cutting, tool preparation, de-tooling, compression molding, composite lamination, trimming, sealing, and packaging. Performs and assists in the basic utility functions in support of manufacturing operations.

Dimensions:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned.
Reads, interprets and works to written instructions such as standard task procedures, work orders, work order instructions, supplementary instructions, sketches, manufacturer’s and customer’s specifications, Material Safety Data Sheets, safety rules. Must be able to understand and follow verbal instructions.

Cuts materials, fiberglass, tapes, cloths, films, metal foil, fabric, and a variety of prepregs to required patterns and sizes.

Assist the Ply Cutter Operator in kitting of patterns cut on the Gerber.

Prepares tools for layup, cleaning, frekote, damage inspection, area separation and assembling tool components.

De-tools, trims, de-flash, de-burr, and identifies parts

Sets up, masks and edge seals and final identifies parts

Performs sanding for water break testing, sanding and surface preparation of painted parts. Surface prep parts for bonding, verifilm etc, and perform bond and verifilm operation on parts including cores.

Packages finished products and prepares product and paperwork for shipment.

Properly documents the completion of operations in the Work Orders

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE : High school diploma or general education degree ( GED ); and one year manufacturing experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS : Ability to read, interpret and work to various written documents including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, work orders, work order instructions, specifications, material safety data sheets and standard task procedures. Ability to read and to write routine correspondence. Speak effectively before groups of employees of organization, with vendor representatives, etc.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS : Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide

REASONING ABILITY : Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems and provide resolution. Must effectively participate in team problem solving.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES : Understanding and use of group decision-making techniques, and problem solving meeting techniques. Ability to function in a team environment.

Must be able to use scissors, Stanley knives, balance scales, various small hand tools and measuring tape.

Operates hoists, cranes, forklifts and tugs

Have basic computer skills and be willing to enhance such skills to learn new software and programs.

Must be able to clock-in, clock-on a work order, clock-out and verify the accuracy of ones own time using a computer terminal.
