Rivers Residential Treatment- Midlands Campus is a 59-bed comprehensive residential treatment facility for children and adolescents providing treatment for psychiatric and chemical dependency related illnesses. The Licensed Therapist/Utilization Review Coordinator evaluates patient medical records to determine severity of patent's illness and determining the appropriateness of level of care. Serve as liaison for patients and hospital with insurance companies. Negotiates and advocates for patient length of stay and level of care. Oversee utilization review activities with other departments to ensure reimbursement for services provided by the hospital. Serve as a therapist with the PHP Program, carrying a caseload of clients.

The candidate selected will be responsible for the following:
(Work hours primarily on 1st shift, but will vary based on needs of facility and/or programs)
· Review the effectiveness of the comprehensive interface with external reviewers, communicate with external reviewers and managed care organizations to assure timely and appropriate interactions, monitor outcomes of reviews and provide consultation as needed
· Maintain an awareness of community and market-related activities which includes knowledge of the activities of other providers, needs of local payers and the political climate related to mental health
· Provides case management for each client assigned to his/her caseload to include contact with the referring agency as required by guidelines. Complete required case management documentation within required time lines
· Researches, performs and documents the psychosocial assessment of all patients within specific time frames
· Facilitates group therapy, family therapy, and individual therapy sessions and documents appropriately in the interdisciplinary progress notes.

Master’s Degree in Social Work required. A minimum of two years’ experience as an LMSW/LISW in psychiatric field required.
Current LMSW or LISW in South Carolina required.
Experience in negotiation and management of payer contracts, managing and opening accounts in other states required.

Must possess knowledge of therapeutic relationships, therapeutic processes, adolescent growth and development, limit-setting and behavior management, crisis management of aggressive behaviors and CPR.
Requires ability to work in a fast-paced environment and valid SC Driver’s license.

Demonstrates extensive knowledge of the network of state agencies, community resources, and aftercare. Demonstrates strong communication skills, written and verbal. Demonstrates the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co0workers, supervisors, referral sources and general public. Has knowledge of assessment process, counseling, and psychopathology. Demonstrates ability to establish credibility and be decisive.
