Vice President of Accounting & Finance
Reporting to and partnering with the chief executive officer (CEO), the VP of Accounting & Finance will play a critical role in developing and implementing a collaborative strategy to position the company to obtain significant growth objectives.
As a member of the senior leadership team, the VP of Accounting & Finance will be an advisor to executive management, evaluating and assisting them with their financial plans and economic modeling and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations. S/he will be responsible for overseeing all fiscal and fiduciary responsibilities for the organization, in conjunction with the board of directors and external ownership.
Oversee budgeting and the implementation of budgets so as to monitor progress and present financial metrics both internally and externally.
Engage the board committees around issues, trends, and changes in the operating model(s) and operational delivery. Assist in establishing yearly objectives and meeting agendas, and selecting and engaging outside consultants (auditors, investment advisors).
As a true business partner to the CEO, assess organizational performance against both the annual budget and long-term strategy. Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the CEO and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations.
Manage cash flow and forecasting. Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs. Optimize the handling of banking relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash positions.
Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, regulatory requirements, and Budget audit requirements.
Maintain internal control safeguards and coordinate all audit activities.
Building a high performance accounting and finance staff.
Support operations management.
Oversee licensing requirements ensuring compliance with all governmental regulations.
Working harmoniously with the company’s operations teams and executive managers.
Candidate Profile – Key Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
CPA strongly preferred. MBA a plus.
Demonstrated experience of growing revenue within a healthcare, medical, or biotech environment
Systems implementation and operations experience.
Minimum of ten (10) years of total experience working in accounting and finance.
Experience reporting to external owners is preferred.
Proven experience managing a rapidly growing accounting and administrative function.
Created and implemented metrics; analysis to support management decision-making.
