Job Title: Vice President, Information Services (CIO)

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Global Ministry Services, the Vice President of Information Services is responsible for developing and executing a clearly defined IS strategy in a manner that supports RBC Ministries Mission, Vision, Ethos and Values, provides robust IT and process solutions to meet the internal needs of the ministry, and provides a responsive platform for increasing engagement with external constituents. The VP of Information Services will work closely with the product leadership teams (Ministry Efforts), Ministry Operations, Finance, and Ministry Services to support the ministry and mission of RBC Ministries, and Discovery House Publishers. This position requires both leadership and facilitation skills, and the ability to collaborate with a diversified global team of leaders is essential for success. The VP of Information Services has direct responsibility for IS staff in various locations around the world, and cultural intelligence is a requirement.

Essential Functions:

1. Lead IS strategic and operational planning to achieve the ministry goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing initiatives, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future IT systems across the ministry. The ministry goals for IS are developed in collaboration with Content Developers, Operations, Finance, and support teams.

2. Develop and maintain appropriate IS organizational structure and resources to support the ministry, recognizing the varying geographical locations, time-zones, and needs of ministry leaders and constituents.

3. Maintain knowledge of developments in the area of technology, strategies and systems and hardware to assure that these may be incorporated into future systems of the ministry. Ensure there is active involvement of subject matter experts within the ministry to stay informed about trends, etc.

4. Advise, counsel and educate executives and management on the potential impact/opportunities afforded by new developments.

5. Direct the development and execution of a ministry-wide IS disaster recovery and business continuity plan.

6. Work with information stakeholders in the ministry to institutionalize data quality management.

7. Develop, track, manage and control the IS annual operating and capital budgets.

8. Ensure IS operations adhere to applicable laws and regulations.

Study or Knowledge and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, and management experience in a similar position.

At least six years of Information Services experience (two years of computer programming with an additional two years of project management and another two years of Systems Analysis with database design).

Extensive knowledge of all major computer-related technologies.

Good working knowledge of publishing, broadcast, financial, order-entry, and distribution technologies and processes. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and proven project management skills.
