Responsible for management and oversight of the overall engineering operations at the new NBC Sports Group's Broadcast Center in Stamford, CT. Ideal candidate is a self-motivated person who can work under deadlines and the pressures of a demanding Live Television Broadcast and Production environment. Also requires a level headed person who can maintain their cool under pressure. And one who can maintain a level of respect and decorum with the department’s clients and other team members
Develop and Manage Capital and Expense budgets.
Manage staffing plans and budget, and staff supervision along with on-going staff development.
Maintains the engineering group alignment with needed production and post-production plans, including core transmission, routing, input signal processing, Release to Air, IPTV/MATV, ingest, playback, graphics, editing, archive, control rooms and studios.
Manages the budget/design/build process for any Stamford Production Operations Center technical builds.
Manages the day-to-day technical maintenance of the entire facility, including the operation of the Transmission and Ingest areas.
Provides interface and liaison to other building departments for operational needs related to freelance crewing, Technical Managers, Building HVAC, Power, Generators, UPS, Security, and Cleaning.
Creates and manages preventative maintenance programs for technical equipment.
Develops testing and scenario planning for various plant failures and conducts rehearsals for overcoming them.
On assignment abroad to work at the Olympic Games
Additional responsibilities include managing the Client based nature of the delivery of services, as well as maintaining and managing the overall relationships with the various client groups that the facility services.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Broadcast Communications or related field.
Minimum twelve (12) years of engineering / broadcast industry experience.
Extensive knowledge of current and future broadcasting, production, post-production, compression, fiber, digital peripherals, satellite, communications, and overall digital systems technology.
Cursory knowledge of IT and IP technologies used within a modern day broadcast plant. Knowledge base also needs to include large scale digital broadcast plant design.
Project management, coordination, and excellent attention to detail required.
Excellent interpersonal skills, people management, and project management skills.
Good team building skills and can foster a team attitude towards all around him or her.
Position will require some long hours and weekend work to follow Sports competition schedules.
Ability to do some domestic and international travel.
