The VP (Market Lead) for the Connecticut Regional Market is responsible for managing HPHC’s entrance and long term success in the Connecticut Market. This individual will develop, manage, coordinate and evaluate the strategic and business plans for the Connecticut Market with special focus and accountability on business development and profitable membership growth. The VP will carryout these critical functions within the overall strategy and goals established by HPHC. The VP will undertake these tasks in a manner that is consistent with the established values and core operating principles of the corporation.
Plan, develop and implement the strategic plan for the Market. Plan, develop and implement the business plan for the Market.
Accountable for Market results.
Develop and manage the operating budget for the regional office and responsible for the operations of that office.
Support and coordinate key corporate services and processes for the Market including but not limited to provider network services, medical management, sales, customer service, actuarial services, product development and marketing.
Support policy, government affairs and relationships for the state of Connecticut.
Act as the key resource and representative of HPHC with the business community, local government authority, general public, local legislators, press and the provider network.
Responsible for working with and providing support to the SVP, Regional Markets in her charge to coordinate and successfully meet the strategic and business goals for all regional markets.
Work with HPHC core departments to develop, implement and manage the following critical functions for the Market:
Profit and loss
Community and Public Relations
Office/System and environmental management
Support corporate strategy, goals, and priorities through the Market strategic and business plans.
Hire, manage, appraise and develop direct reports.
Other duties and projects as assigned.
MBA, MHA, MS in related field;
8-10 years of senior leadership experience in health care/managed care, specific state-level public affairs, business, and health care experience necessary.
Experience with complex matrixed responsibility in a large organization.
Proven experience as a major player in the Connecticut marketplace, operating from visible and influential positions.
Effective leader, problem solver, able to function independently, flexible, change agent.
Familiarity with a range of diversified product lines and competitor products.
Excellent communication skills, proactive and innovative, organized, team player, positive attitude, strategic and business planning capabilities.
Office environment, required to travel to all HPHC locations as well as to other locations as needed to meet the goals of the role.The VP reports directly to the Sr. VP, Regional Markets and works very closely with other regional market leaders and functional leaders. The VP has 2 direct reports and has oversight for a staff of 10-20 at the Connecticut Regional Office. This role will have close ties with the business community, local government authority, local legislators, press and the provider network. The VP will work with HPHC staff and leadership at all levels, including ELC members and will participate as needed on key committees.
