Position Summary:
POSITION SUMMARY:
The VP of Finance is responsible for all budgeting and financial reporting to include project and indirect planning. Will serve as the Network’s Controller. Will work in collaboration with the leadership of Revenue Cycle and Managed Care Services.

As part of the Senior Leadership, this position works with the CFO and Network Leadership in the planning, organizing and development of the Network’s goals and objectives related to finance and revenue. Accountable for staff performance in accordance with organizational expectations. Develop and monitor accounting and reporting operations that are consistent with latest accounting technical pronouncements and within an environment of strong internal controls. Provide support for the vision and direction of the organization. Responsible for ongoing interface and frequent communication with internal and external customers, employees and management. Effectively manage change; facilitate innovation and foster teambuilding. Also undertakes network financial responsibilities as assigned by network leadership. Oversees CHN financial operations and data related to Revenue Cycle Management and Managed Care Contracting.

1.3 Analyze and incorporate current and long-term economic, business and clinical trends into an effective financial model for the organization.

1.4 Develop and distribute accurate and timely financial reports that describe the financial performance of the organization and its departments.

1.5 Assure that organization meets external regulatory requirements as related to fiscal matters.

1.6 Respond to the needs and expectations of internal and external customers (auditors, State and Federal regulatory agencies, partners, stakeholders, organization management).

1.7 Provide appropriate feedback to directors regarding finance needs and expectations.

1.8 Implement plans and strategies.

Translate program and operational plans into individual performance objectives for staff. Identify the changes required and reinforce behaviors consistent with achieving Carondelet’s Strategic Vision.

3. Achieve or exceed established business outcomes.

Initiate and implement customer focused processes to ensure continuous improvement and innovation. Ensure strategic allocation of resources by establishing appropriate financial balance between customer need, market forces and Mission/Values.

4. Provide leadership for the Finance departments.

Effectively manage change and foster innovation; promote and model teamwork within the hospital. Demonstrate current knowledge about national and local issues affecting health care finance; integrate into teams’ work.

5. Cultivate and evaluate staff expertise and knowledge necessary for the delivery of quality financial accounting and reporting and for client/customer satisfaction

Identify and maintain required knowledge and skill sets to support staff in the delivery of quality services to the organization; to enhance core competencies; implement plans for staff retention and recruitment.

6. Provide staff the direction and coaching required for maximum effectiveness and efficiency of environment-specific operations.

Model and articulate vision and performance expectations to staff; direct, coach and mentor staff to ensure: compliance with all appropriate regulatory agencies, effective use of resources—human, capital, financial and environmental, appropriate and timely reports and documentation; Encourage and motivate staff to be creative and support methods for continuous improvement to enhance business outcomes and customer satisfaction.

7. Cultivate staff expertise and knowledge necessary for the delivery of quality ser vice.Develop and implement a plan for identifying the required knowledge and skill sets for staff and facility leadership; stay aware of current business trends and develop methods for sharing this knowledge with others; provide appropriate direction and resources to ensure staff development and competencies; develop plans for staff recruitment and retention.

8. Set and achieve established financial targets.

Analyze and incorporate current business and clinical trends; develop and manage business contracts as appropriate; initiate innovative marketing tactics. Investigate and pursue new sources of revenue.

9. Provide a safe, functional, supportive and effective environment for all patients, staff members, and other individuals utilizing CHN facilities.

Relationships:
Highly visible position requires interface and communication at all levels within the organization. Establishes collaborative relationships with peers, subordinates, senior management and external customers. Oversees Revenue Cycle department operations. Reports to the Chief Financial Officer.

Dimensions:
Accountability for staff performance. Accountability for timely and accurate financial reporting within Carondelet and outside constituencies, including Ascension Health, external and internal auditors, and various governmental agencies. Support the vision and direction of the organization.

Education

Required: Bachelor (BS, BA) business related field with emphasis in Finance or Accounting.
