Under minimal direction, manages all disability management programs, including leaves of absence, workers’ compensation and workplace ergonomics.
Manages enterprise-wide disability management program including leaves of absence, workers’ compensation and workplace ergonomics in accordance with legal requirements and Corporate policies and practices to ensure employees needs and the Company’s interests are balanced.
Partners with HR Business Partners to ensure regulations and internal policies and practices regarding disability management are adhered to and offer recommendations balancing best interests of the organization and the employee.
Educates management and employees to ensure understanding and expectations of their respective roles in the disability management process, including leaves of absence, workers’ compensation and workplace ergonomics.
Manages the Third Party Administrators (i.e. leave administration tracking and insurance carriers) as it relates to the handling/tracking/reporting of individual employee disabilities/leaves, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations (FMLA, ADA, CFRA, and workers’ compensation) and that VSP is receiving value for the outsourcing efforts.
Partners with management to assist employees’ return to work, including coordination and compliance with the interactive process, where applicable. Assists with accident investigations involving employees and management; ensures accurate OSHA recordkeeping; and prepares and files all OSHA required reports. Provides input toward enterprise risk and safety programs.
Prepares, analyzes and reports leave data, disability claims, modified duty cases, absenteeism/presenteeism, etc. and correlates to the enterprise wellness initiative; recommends improvement/enhancement strategies.
Typically has the following skills or abilities:
Five-plus years' experience in disability management administration.
Thorough knowledge of Human Resources policies and practices that impact disability management.
Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external business partners.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to problem solve, interpret and explain complex plan policies to audiences with varying levels of knowledge and expertise.
Ability to effectively consult/manage disability and insurance Third Party Administrators.
Demonstrated critical thinking ability, anticipation of potential problems combined with strong problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to analyze data and make/implement solid value-add program/policy/ practice recommendations.
Demonstrated organization skills to multi-task, prioritize, and coordinate resources.
