DESCRIPTION

Carolina Veterinary Specialists is looking for a qualified Veterinary Technician/Assistant to work in our busy Emergency department at our Winston-Salem location. Duties will include client communication, patient care, laboratory testing, radiology, anesthesia, surgical assistance, and variety of other general technical duties. Contact for schedule options.

DUTIES

ICU/Emergency Assistant Job Description:
  • Perform reception duties including answering the phone as needed.
  • Client communication using compassion, patience, professionalism and kindness whether in person or on the phone a must.
  • Ability to proficiently put in IV catheters and draw blood.
  • Anesthetize, monitor and recover patients from anesthesia with direction and supervision of the veterinarian
  • Properly perform patient treatments, administer medications, decipher changes in patient progress and report these findings to the doctor.
  • Perform diagnostics including blood work, radiographs, blood pressure, and maintain hospital care of patients.
  • Take an accurate and detailed history from clients.
  • Ability to work with all other technicians within the hospital as a team. Sharing equal case responsibility, cleaning, stocking and other hospital duties.
QUALIFICATIONS

Must have one year experience working in the veterinary medical field.

Must be able to lift and restrain animals up to 50 lbs.

Must work well in a team environment.
