The Vice President for Finance and CFO is a key executive role to drive systems and operational excellence throughout the greater LSM/NJ organization. This role supports and enhances the mission of LSM/NJ across its diverse programs. Vice President for Finance and CFO is responsible for the overall financial reporting and compliance for all LSM/NJ entities to ensure quality services and operational efficiency.
Primary responsibilities include developing and implementing improved systems and processes across the organization, establishing and maintaining outcome-based measurements, improving customer satisfaction, and participating in the development of policy and strategic plans. Follows direction set by the President and Chief Executive Officer, who is the supervisor for this position.
Works with Vice Presidents, Executive Directors, and other key managers in selecting and implementing innovative financial systems and solutions to position LSM/NJ for success accomplishment of its strategic directions. Enables financial stability, strength and growth consistent with the mission and strategic plan.
Essential Duties

Ministries of New Jersey is to serve those in New Jersey who hurt, are in need, or have limited choices.
Supervises and directs Finance Department staff and contractors.
Supervises and directs the Controller/Deputy CFO in completion of essential job functions.
Sets direction, clarifies expectations and gains commitment of staff to departmental direction in line with corporate mission, values and strategies.
Is a member of the executive staff, attending and participating in executive meetings, discussions and decisions.
Contributes to the evaluation and development of overall operational strategy and performance in co-operation with the executive team.
Collaborates with the Management Team to develop/implement plans for the financial infrastructure (financing, systems, processes and personnel) designed to facilitate the mission and strategic plan.
Makes recommendations to senior management and provides information for the Board concerning fiscal viability of future projects or major line-of-business re-positioning.
Interfaces with operations at various levels for the development of new programs and services, particularly focusing on financial systems requirements and operational readiness.
Develops the written strategic plan for the Finance Department.
Provides strategic leadership and supervision for the finance functions of the organization, providing guidance and direction to achieve corporate needs and strategies.
Coordinates the preparation, analysis and presentation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statement and analysis for all LSM/NJ entities.
Develops financial analysis and prepares recommendations to ensure the fiscal viability and strength of individual program/facility entities and LSM/NJ overall.
Maintains risk insurance coverage; coordinates annual insurance renewal process; coordinates risk management strategies.
Provides timely, accurate and complete reports on finances to the President and CEO to inform and educate the Board.
Attends Board meetings as requested by the President and CEO.
Develops budget policy and oversees the preparation of budgets for President and CEO and Board approval.
Develops and manages budgets for areas of responsibility within parameters approved by supervisor, identifies and responds to the budget variances.
Working in conjunction with the Audit Committee, manages the information and relationships of the audit process.
Oversees and coordinates the investment portfolio of all entities.
Develops investment policies and procedures for recommendation to the Board through the President and CEO.
Manages all banking and finance relationships and processes, ensuring quality service and lowest cost.
Establishes priorities for financial system modifications and requests in coordination with financial application users.
Provides and/or manages education about financial systems and reports for all levels of staff.
Esures compliance with all regulatory and governing agency requirements; formulates and directs the implementation of finance related policies and procedures and ensures interdepartmental accountability.
Implements effective internal controls that provide reasonable assurance of compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Liaisons for all affiliate Boards, Boards of managed facilities, and other reporting bodies regarding any matters related to finance or entity financial performance.
Provides reports as requested by the President and CEO.
Participates with Fund Development and Marketing initiatives designed to enhance LSM/NJ's public image, generate financial support and secure program clientele.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor, necessary for the efficient operation of the department/facility.

Experience and Skills

Education/Training/Certifications:
BS/BA Degree in Accounting/Finance required.
MBA preferred. CPA preferred.
Advanced degree or additional studies or concentration is preferred.

Experience:
Minimum of five years experience in a financial, multi-site, non-profit health care setting with at least five years of senior supervisory experience
Successful leadership in the in the use and development of financial and management information systems

Knowledge of corporate compliance function and goals
Experience and/or certification in project management disciplines
Ability to build trust, motivate and effectively advocate
