VP Project Management

Establish the objectives, plans, standards, policies and procedures for the project management department as well as provide leadership and mentoring to all personnel to develop and maintain a project management culture dedicated to employing professionalism and best practices. Responsibilities include the management of special, strategic and or tactical projects with continuing success of the corporation or one or more of the major business units. The department will plan, execute and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan.
Directs and manages projects from beginning to end and will take ownership and involvement in multiple simultaneous projects. Monitors project scopes, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management. Directs and manages project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion. Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents. Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis. Draft and submit budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary. Determine and assess need for additional staff and/or consultants and make the appropriate recruitments if necessary. Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools. Mitigate project risks and manage issues, manage project scope and change effectively. Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work. Build, develop and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the projects. Conduct project post mortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements. Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.
Employees are accountable to management and each other to ensure every task is done safely in accordance with Management Systems or business unit procedures with the objective of continuously improving our processes.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
8-10 years direct work experience in a project management capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution. Familiarity with project management software is essential. PMI/PMP certification preferred. Experience in the upstream oil and gas industry is preferred. Demonstrate experience in personnel management. Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential. Collaborate with all resources, including upper management, clients, and other departments. Execute project to successful completion through political sensitivity. Communicate with strong written and oral skills. Interpersonal skills are a must with customer service skills a plus. Must possess skill sets and demonstrate proven experience developing, improving and streamlining processes to meet established goals and objectives. Requires the ability to effectively manage projects that may vary in nature and scope.
Good knowledge of project management methodology, preferable PMI standard, process management and quality assurance.
All Crowley positions require proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word. Some positions may also include proficiency in other Microsoft Office applications.
Education * Bachelors degree required.
- Project Management Certification preferred (PMI/PMP)
Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like. Ability to travel and work long hours, including weekends. Must comply with all work rules, including those pertaining to safety and health.
