The primary role of the VP for Academic Initiatives is to be the point person for all college and university partners as it relates to academic planning and Consortium matters. In addition, this role will help oversee strategic planning, and collaborate with leaders across all college and university partners to ensure the strategic direction of Semester Online is being successfully implemented. In addition, the VP will act as advocate for Semester Online among faculty and administrators and as an advocate for overall program quality.

We are looking for someone who has a unique blend of experience, someone with a proven ability to work effectively in an academic setting and the clear potential to integrate into a fast-growing private company. Success in this position depends above all else on outstanding communication skills and on effective teamwork. Comfort working with academic subject matter and a passion for excellence in education are absolute musts.

Primary Responsibilities
Many different individuals and departments within Semester Online interact directly with university faculty, administration and staff. It is the VP, Academic Initiatives, however, who has the most persistent contact. The VP of Academic Initiatives will act as the key communication bridge between the Consortium and 2U.

In this capacity, the VP for Academic Initiatives is responsible for:

Fostering collaborative partnerships with college and university constituencies;

Assisting the GM in understanding the governance processes of each partner institution and developing a strategic plan for working within those processes;

Identifying problems and opportunities at other key points of contact between Semester Online and partner institutions;

Establishing and managing working groups with key administrators to ensure the success of the program;

Onboarding new Consortium school administrators and familiarize them with the operational processes of Semester Online;

Assisting Semester Online marketing, admissions and post-enrollment services departments in the development of recruiting materials and communications;

Things That Should Be in Your Background

Energetic and self-motivated

5-7 years experience in higher education

Expertise, educational background, experience, and knowledge of current practices and trends in undergraduate education

Excellent communication skills

Experience managing the academic programming of a degree, certificate or other credential

Proven ability to meet strict deadlines and deliverables

Demonstrated success working in an interdisciplinary, academic institution
