We are seeking a creative, experienced, web-savvy Video Editor/Motion Graphics Designer who specializes in creating innovative and compelling short-form informational, promotional, and social media-style video content for online audiences.

The Video Editor/Motion Graphics designer will edit videos for Common Sense Media's website. Videos include a variety of short-form products like how-to videos, advice, reviews, training and marketing-style content. This position reports to the Video Department Director. This full-time role is located in San Francisco; paid relocation is not available

  • Edit and design/create motion graphics for videos
  • Color correct and sound mix videos
  • Compress and upload videos for web delivery
  • Work on multiple projects with overlapping deadlines
  • Maintain broadcast quality on all video products
  • At least 3 years experience editing on Final Cut Pro (Adobe Premier a plus)
  • At least 3 years experience using After Effects (Illustrator and Motion a plus)
  • At least 3 years experience using Photoshop and Soundtrack Pro
  • Experience with Episode Pro, Compressor, Mpeg Streamclip, DVD Studio Pro
  • Experience with compressing video for web and broadcast distribution
  • Experience with compositing, key framing, title design, and visual effects
  • Color correction and sound design experience
  • Experience editing videos for web – short form, social media-style videos required
  • Experience creating innovative pieces with minimal footage
  • Samples of your strong visual/graphic design sensibility – a motion-graphics focused piece is a must
  • Samples of your narrative storytelling abilities – short form preferred
  • Samples of how to/tip/social media/marketing-style videos
  • Highly creative, with a strong visual sensibility and sense of pacing
  • Able to weave easily between storytelling, informational, and message-driven content
  • A multi-tasker with the proven ability to meet deadlines and stay calm in a fast-paced production
  • Always willing to try or learn something new
  • Organized, resourceful, fast, efficient, and attentive to detail
  • Self-driven and good at problem solving
  • Collaborative and willing to pitch in as needed
  • Responsible and dependable, with an upbeat "can do" attitude
  • Comfortable taking direction, working independently, and in teams
  • Passionate about the CSM mission
