Wilkes University invites applicants for a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Division of Behavioral and Social Sciences beginning in the Fall 2012 semester. Applicants are welcome from the areas of Criminology, Sociology, Law, Administration of Justice, or Economics. Preference will be given to candidates with the ability to teach courses related to Law and Society, Criminal Law, Economics, or Political Economy. Faculty appointment will be in the Division of Behavioral and Social Sciences, preferably in Economics or Sociology.
The appointment is renewable for four years and will be evaluated for possible conversion to tenure stream during this time period. Review of applications begins mid-June 2012.The Division of Behavioral and Social Sciences offers an interdisciplinary major in Criminology with required coursework in Sociology, Economics, Psychology and Political Science. A Ph.D. is strongly preferred from candidates with background in Criminology or Economics, but a terminal degree in a closely related field with graduate coursework in Criminal Justice and Criminology may be considered.
Dissertation stage doctoral candidates will also be considered. Effective teaching, mentoring, and advising are expected of all faculty members at Wilkes.The ideal candidate will have prior experience teaching at the college level.
