The Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) Biomedical Informatics (BI) Core at UIC is seeking a Visiting Biomedical Informatics Specialist who will function as a Senior Software Developer who will lead the front-end design and development of our clinical data resources and tools that support biomedical research. The developer will also gather technical and business requirements from clients, user analysts and management for planning, designing, and delivering user-friendly applications and interfaces.
The Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) Biomedical Informatics (BI) Core at UIC provides the informatics infrastructure, clinical research data resources, and informatics services required in the translation of research from bench to bedside to community and back again. The BI Core efforts are directed towards providing user-friendly informatics tools and services which promotes efficient, effective multi-directional flow of information among basic, animal, human, and public health researchers while minimizing the effects of traditional barriers that form research silos.
Provide leadership and expertise in the development of clinical data resource and tools to support a variety of biomedical research protocols.
Consult with principal investigators, analysts, and management to assess technical and business needs for current research protocols and future submissions.
Plan, design and implement user-friendly applications and interfaces to address research needs and inquiries of clinical and translational investigators.
Collaborate with BI Core members to identify and implement advancements within biomedical informatics to provide efficient and effective multi-directional flow of information for researchers.
Masters's degree required, preferably in health, biological, computer science, or mathematics.
Minimum 4 years experience in project/program management to include:
Preference given to candidates with experience with:
- Extensive experience developing HTML/CSS/JS for web applications.
- Demonstrated ability as evidenced by strong portfolio of previous work.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience collaborating with clients and team members to iteratively create an interface.
- Ability to work well with a creative team, as well as back-end developers.
- Standards - compliant HTML and CSS
