Essential Functions:

The purpose of this description is to perform various assignments in the capacity of a volunteer for Collier County Government to provide services in general, to the community at large. Each particular assignment will require different skill sets, hours and locations. Some of the following duties may be assigned depending on volunteer assignment. Other duties may be assigned as needed. Shelves books, videos, and stray library materials; straightens books on shelves; ensures books are in correct order on shelves; shelves special collections and videos; shifts or relocates parts of the library collection. Collects books and tapes from night depository; collects returned items and takes to workroom or circulation desk as appropriate; puts items on carts in order in workroom; collects items that are lying around and scans into computer and re-shelves. Greets visitors and/or callers; provides information; and/or directs visitor/caller to appropriate staff member or department. Assists with various office functions. Files/ prepares department records, reports and forms. Copies and distributes documents as appropriate. Organizes, files and/or mails forms. Inputs data. Operates a personal computer, telephone, radio, copier and other general office equipment as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

**Library volunteers must be at least 14 years of age.**

Fingerprinting and/or other background checks may be required based on assignment. Prior to operating a County vehicle, a volunteer must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license and undergo a DMV check. Other qualifications/certifications may be required depending on assignment. Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds, texture, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
