Essential Functions:

Volunteers contribute to the quality of 4-H community clubs by leading a specialized group activity for youth and supporting the club as a member of the leadership team. This will be accomplished by providing short-term activities for youth that allow them to grow and learn. These activities may range from community service to subjects such as the environment, safety, health, etc., social activities or fundraisers. Provides 4-H learning experiences directly to youth in the classroom. Serves as a liaison between the county 4-H Youth Development Office and classroom teachers to expand 4-H learning experiences for youth in classroom environments. Support county Extension staff and classroom teachers in conducting meaningful educational experiences to help youth in grades K-12 grow and reach their fullest potential. Inform and encourage 4-H in the Classroom participants and teachers to actively participate in other 4-H opportunities. Guide and supports 4-H club members with project work (learning experiences structured around a special interest). Teach youth life skills such as decision making and teamwork through the many types of project work. County Activity Volunteers contribute to the quality of 4-H program by ensuring that activities and tasks associated with an event are completed as designed by the Event Coordinator. This includes ensuring that youth are safe, policies and procedures have been maintained and that youth have fun.

Minimum Qualifications:

Fingerprinting and/or other background checks may be required based on assignment. Prior to operating a County vehicle, a volunteer must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license and undergo a DMV check. Other qualifications/certifications may be required depending on assignment. Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds, texture, and visual cues or signals.
