Supervises the overall productivity of the clinic and staff. Provides nutrition information and services to promote and maintain proper nutritional practices, health protection and care.

This opportunity is available at the following WIC location: Hobby WIC Clinic (8221 Gulf Freeway).
-Supervise clerical and professional staff for compliance to specific directions, policies and procedures.
-Oversee initial and ongoing employee training; evaluate performance and discipline as needed.
-Share work load with clinic nutritionist regarding certifying participants to receive program benefits and provide nutrition counseling based on individual needs. If RD, provide counseling to high risk participants and approval for non-contract formulas.
-Refer program participants to various health care, food assistance or social services based on personal need.
-Oversee inventory of breast pumps, office, medical and nutrition education supplies. Order supplies through pre-existing procedures.
-Provide clarification on residency and income eligibility policies as they pertain to individual applicants. Assist in various clerical activities to improve clinic productivity.
-Provide technical assistance on nutrition and dietetics to WIC/UTHSC staff and community agencies, etc.
-Promote breastfeeding among program participants to WIC/UTHSC staff and community agencies and keep current on advances in the field.
-Conduct monthly inservices to staff.
-If RD, supervise dietetic students as they rotate through the WIC clinic for their community dietetics experience.
-Participate in nutrition seminars, workshops, etc. to endure continuing education in various areas of nutrition.
-Other nutrition and administrative duties as determined by program director.
Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition by an accredited or approved Education program with a minimum of three years experience in a nutrition or public health area with one year of management responsibilities (three years of WIC experience functioning as a nutritionist may be substituted). One year experience in a nutrition or public health area with a Registered Dietitian certification.
Registered Dietitian preferred
Bilingual in Spanish preferred
