THE PURPOSE OF THE OSTOMY/WOUND CARE NURSE IS TO IMPROVE PATIENT OUTCOMES AND STAFF KNOWLEDGE OF OSTOMY/WOUND CARE THE PRIMARY FUNCTION OF THE OSTOMY/WOUND CARE NURSE IS TO SERVE AS A RESOURCE FOR NURSING STAFF TO CONSULT FOR WOUNDS/OSTOMIES REQUIRING INTERVENTIONS BEYOND THE CAPABILITIES OF THE MED/SURG NURSE THE OSTOMY/WOUND CARE NURSE WILL ALSO ASSIST WITH PATIENT EDUCATION REGARDING OSTOMIES AND WOUND CARE *CB*
WOCN certification or ability to become certified in 1 yr (must have completed accredited wound, ostomy and continence program and must successfully pass test for certification within 1 yr of hire date)
Must take call and respond within time described in job description Ability to develop and review policies Teach staff and patients the most up to date wound care methods including skin breakdown prevention strategies
Current BLS Certification Required
