Summary: Interacts with residents, obtains order for meal within correct diet order. Performs various tasks involved in the assembly, delivery and return of resident meals, trays and nourishment’s. Assists in the preparation, portioning and service of food.

Principle Accountabilities:
1. Performs food service tasks including:
a. Reads communication pad at start of shift, reads menu for the day, checks board for room trays, guests, special instructions.
b. Serves residents using knowledge of diet order and appropriate menu.
c. Smiles and talks clearly with residents while obtaining menu order.
d. Serves and cleans tables using correct procedures.
e. Sets dining room tables according to established procedures. f. Bus tables carefully and quietly. Avoids spills to floor and handles dishes carefully to prevent breakage. Does not stack glasses.
g. Accurately and efficiently prepares room trays. Delivers and retrieves room tray carts as scheduled.
h. Prepares beverages according to list and places correctly at tables.
I. Assists with food preparation and portioning of food as assigned. Uses portion size indicated on menu.
j. Performs dishwashing according to established procedures. Soaks silverware, bowls and other items as needed. Monitors dish machine for correct temperatures.
k. Washes pots and pans, allow to air dry and stores in appropriate place.
l. Prepares nourishment’s accurately and on time.

n. Completes cleaning tasks thoroughly. (carts, tables etc.)
o. Completes wing refrigerator stocking accurately. Labels and dates all items.
p. Vacuum dining room floor thoroughly.

2. Maintains clean, orderly and safe environment
a. Keeps work areas neat and orderly.
b. Uses proper lifting techniques.
c. Reports any unsafe equipment to supervisor, records on communication sheet.
d. Mops up spills immediately, uses wet floor signs as needed.
e. Returns items to proper storage spaces, storeroom, refrigerator, freezer.
f. Thoroughly cleans dining room and/or kitchen floors as assigned.
g. Other cleaning assignments are completed thoroughly and in a timely manner.

3. Human Relation skills.
a. Establishes a positive relationship with residents, families and co-workers. Uses good communication skills and maintains a professional appearance.
b. Reports family/resident concerns to supervisor - records information on communication pad.
c. Appearance - reports for work in clean, neat uniform, shirt tucked in. (including tie and apron)
d. Asks supervisor for explanation of any unclear assignments or directions.
e. Information related to clients/families is treated as confidential.
f. Conveys information between departments in a manner that does not promote conflict.

4. Demonstrates effective use of time. Demonstrates dependability and adaptability.
a. Clocks in at scheduled time.
b. Notifies the department in advance of absence from work.
c. Notifies of necessary tardies.
d. Adheres strictly to break (15 minutes) and lunch (30 minutes) schedule.
e. Uses all duty time for job related activities.
f. Completes all tasks before end of shift.
g. Asks for assistance when needed, keeps supervisor informed of progress.
h. Offers assistance to co-workers, team player.
I. Has no unexcused absence or tardies.
j. Has fewer than 6 absences in 12 months.
k. If injures on the job, reports incident and fills out incident report completely in a timely manner.
l. Uses telephone for emergency only. Uses pay phones at break for personnel calls.
m. Flexible, readily accepts change of assignment with a positive attitude.
n. Able to follow through on assignment with minimal supervision. o. Completes other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

5. Demonstrates good work habits.
a. Follows established rules for use and maintenance of equipment.
b. Cleans equipment after use.
c. Returns items to proper place in the storeroom and refrigerator.
d. Utilizes supplies appropriately.
e. Rotates stock.
f. Proper care and use of paper items to prevent waste.
g. Handles breakable items carefully to prevent chipping and breakage.

6. Performs other work duties as assigned.

Required Experience:
1. Food service experience preferred.
2. On the job training provided.

Required Education:
1. High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Working Conditions:

Employee is required to sit occasionally and walk continuously. Employee must lift/carry a light (1-20 lbs.) to medium (21-50 lbs.) load frequently and heavy (over 100#) occasionally. Employee is required to lift over 100 lbs. with assistance. Employee is frequently required to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, climb, lift from floor to waist, lift from floor to overhead, and lift from waist to overhead. For repetitive action, employee is required to use both hands for simple grasping, pushing/pulling, and fine manipulation. Employee is exposed to the following environmental conditions: temperature changes (heat, cold, wet, damp) and noise continuously; confined to small areas frequently. May be required to work additional hours as needed, weekends and holidays.

(Occasionally: 1-33%, Frequently: 34-66%, Continuously: 67-100%)

The most significant of duties are included but this does not exclude occasional work assignments not mentioned or developmental duties.
