P osition Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Warehouseman , in Northern Virginia .

This is a developmental level position within the Warehouseman occupational specialty, with positions located at the customer's warehouse facility. Warehousemen at the developmental level work under close daily contractor supervision and are assigned to one of the following three warehouse work units: Dock Operations, Stock Management, or Property Reutilization. Developmental warehousemen are expected to develop a proficiency in the duties of that work unit. As the developmental warehousemen develops his/her skills in one work area, he/she is given opportunities to cross-train in the other warehouse areas. Developmental warehousemen are also trained to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.

Qualifications (at least 3 bullets)

Minimum Qualifications Experience: No prior work experience Education: Completion of high school or vocational school, a GED certificate, or the equivalent. Special certification: None

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities *Ability to obtain basic knowledge of Customer and Logistics policies and regulations that pertain to storage, shipping, and handling of materials(to include specialized materials) *Ability to obtain a basic knowledge of the Working Capital Fund business operating procedures *Basic knowledge of cover and how it pertains to warehouse operations Some computer knowledge *Good interpersonal and customer service skills *Ability to operate various handling equipment in accordance with safety requirements and procedures *Ability to safely move materials of various sizes and weights throughout the warehouse and onto and off trucks *Materials may include crates, furniture, electronics, HAZMAT, lumber, vehicles, 55-gallon drums, and military items *Ability to lift up to 70lbs *Ability to operate industrial shredder in accordance to safety requirements and procedures *Ability to exercise good judgement in decision making and problem solving (i. e. maximize space, handle the wide range of materials received, deal with multiple customers and priorities, and resolve inventory discrepancies.) *Ability to read manifests and other documents *Ability to maintain accurate records
