Do you want to own the interaction design of a growing suite of tools that help unemployed people find new jobs?
Be part of an award-winning Silicon Valley product team reinventing job search at RiseSmart -- currently providing outplacement, recruiting, and career management at some of the best known brands and Fortune 100 companies.
Job Location: RiseSmart, 2055 Gateway Place, Ste 150, San Jose, CA 95110
How does the Product Team at RiseSmart work together?
Collaboration is the name of the game. This is a small team where everyone is heard. You will be responsible for interaction design, but you can introduce brand new product ideas or question old assumptions and get a pat on the back rather than the frown you might earn at some larger companies. We brainstorm, sketch, prototype, and test with end-users. We go and talk to industry experts as well as employees within RiseSmart who are coaching people during career transitions. Then we design based on these facts and observations, prototype, and test again.

What would you do?
Understand web and mobile design patterns - history and current usage.
Voraciously brainstorm solutions to any problem which dares raise its head.
Be empathetic: Identify and champion the key value for the user in any particular interaction.
Explain yourself on the whiteboard, in wire-framed mockups, task models, and flow diagrams.
Run user testing (it's okay if you haven't before, as long as you're willing).
Push the envelope! The interaction designer must be an especially forward-thinking member of the team. How do we deal with the collision of the web and mobile interface worlds? What innovative interactions could increase our users' satisfaction?
Prototype! Build some stuff and test it on live users. It's perfectly legal : ) We create clickable prototypes in Fireworks, Axure, Balsamiq or straight (Bootstrap) HTML.
Present your ideas to groups of PMs and executives.
Produce final designs (your visual design skill would be another plus, but we'll help each other out in whatever area needed to get to a great design).
Pass on the interaction goodness to developers in concise documents and/or prototypes.
3-5+ years working with consumer-focused websites and apps, preferably in the general realm of SAAS. Some business-focused work mixed in is a plus as long as it's not the majority.
Expert Photoshop/Illustrator/Fireworks skills.
Ability to shape conceptual ideas into finished products – specifically to develop wireframes and sketches into polished designs.
Ability to produce clickable prototypes for user testing and demonstration.
Please provide a portfolio featuring real world examples of your design work for web and mobile apps INCLUDING NOTES, ROUGH SKETCHES, ETC. – the stuff you usually throw away after a project is complete.
