The primary objective of the Web Developer/E-Commerce Specialist is to be a hands-on web developer and interact with current staff to maintain our current revenue generating page. Secondly, the ideal candidate will have the ability to expand our e-books offering, manage efforts to develop an App Store application, market our e-products using social media and other tools to increase our revenue, an aptitude for laying out initiatives that increase our revenue and establishing new processes, while initiating projects that are revenue focused and support the company’s key strategic initiatives. The successful candidate is positive, innovative, and a self-motivated individual who can build strong relationships and is comfortable developing new ideas and leading those ideas through to delivery – including analysis and optimization. This position will require working with other divisions and business units to exploit the brand by assessing needs and goals, develop a strategy, setting objectives, set path and implement, performance bench mark and evaluation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work with current staff on the division’s web page to integrate new initiatives; hands on web development
  • Determine an e-commerce and digital project plan
  • Provide content, assets, strategy, project direction, and track the success of projects
  • Manage site assets and content as needed
  • Manage projects from inception to completion including costs, scope of work, schedule, quality assurance and timely delivery
  • Evaluate relevant web trends and activities of visitors to the site and new apps
  • Recommend and work with existing staff to implement changes to increase clicks and length of time visitors remain on the site
  • Develop/recommend site enhancements to draw the visitor deeper into the site
  • Implement designs and functions to keep the web site attractive, creative and ranked high on Internet search engines
  • Monitor trends, review manuals, periodicals, and technical reports to learn new ways to develop programs
  • Collaborate and closely interact with the General Manager of Publishing and multiple departments within the publishing team

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, E-commerce or equivalent working experience up to 4 years of interactive experience
  • Extensive hands-on experience with website development and web programs
  • Must have experience working with all elements of the interactive marketing mix such as search, media, social and sites
  • Knowledge of JavaScript, XML, HTML and CSS
  • Knowledge and understanding of web front-end (usability, wireframes, design) and back-end (programming, database, serving) best practices is essential)
  • Must possess a solid combination of technical and business skills
  • Ability to apply analytical skills with an attention to detail
  • Deadline oriented and multi-tasking in a fast paced environment
  • Able to multi-task, flexible and change priorities as needed
  • Positive attitude and good at dealing with people of different levels within an organization
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to appropriately interact with all areas and levels of the company
