The Wellness Coordinator, reports to the Director of Compensation & Benefits, and is responsible for managing a comprehensive employee wellness program at the University. The Wellness Coordinator will promote, teach, and market programs that promote healthy living and align with the University's Blue U initiative. This position is also responsible for increasing participation in wellness activities and to determine the effectiveness of the wellness programs.
Bachelor's degree in a related field such as in the Exercise Sciences, Fitness Management or Sports Marketing plus 3 years of experience planning, implementing, teaching and evaluating wellness activities preferably with an adult, diverse population or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid driver's license with good driving record; must be insurable.
Ability to teach group fitness classes for adult population Ability to analyze fitness desires of Stevenson University employees by survey and other means Ability to promote the Blue U programs to both faculty and staff Ability to effectively develop programs that promote the Blue U culture Ability to successfully multitask in a fast-paced environment and adjust programming to fit the needs of the employees. Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office software, i.e., the Internet and other relevant software. Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills both orally and in writing. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Strong presentation and customer service skills Energetic, outgoing, and have passion for health improvement Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed Ability to travel between campuses
High level of physical: facilitate fitness classes at various levels including aerobic; cardio and weight strengthening activities. Running, walking, stooping, lifting weights, etc. during the teaching of a fitness class or individual instruction. Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
Work closely with employees to determine their individual goals and aspirations for fitness. Offer suggestions for exercises that will help them meet their goals keeping their physical limitations in mind. Teach fitness classes for the University employees on both campuses such as walking and aerobic programs Manage the logistics relating to the Blue U programs including room reservation and coordination with outside vendors such as BHS, Brick Bodies, etc. Assess effectiveness of all programs offered by the Blue U to improve employees' health and well-being through the use of employee surveys Recommend and implement new program or service offerings in order to recruit additional participants Promote all Blue U programs at faculty and staff department meetings with goal on increased participation Promote all Blue U programs using a variety of marketing materials/ tools such as the SU Portal, flyers, SU Radio and TV spots, etc. As a member of the Spirit and Wellness Committee, attends meetings and supports all activities. Manages the Greenspring Blue U. fitness room. Schedule programs, orders equipment, secures the area after use, and tracks and manages inventory. Coordinate with other employees in the Wellness Center and Athletics who are providing employee fitness related activities Work with the University's Wellness Center to coordinate "Wellness Wednesday" and programs that are beneficial to both employees and students Respond to employee requests for information about wellness programs and events. Perform other duties as assigned.
