A global manufacturing and distribution firm seeks a talented Windows System Administrator for their Data Center in Long Grove, IL.
The server farm consists of 55 windows Servers, 30 are virtualized. This is a small environment, and the ideal candidate will have some experience with Networking, LAN/WAN, Firewalls, and atleast 3 years of Windows Sever Administration, Active Directory and Exchange 2007.
The Server Administrator will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and support of a decentralized network, supporting the LAN, WAN, Microsoft Active Directory and its domains and the underlying server and desktop infrastructure. Provide helpdesk Tier 2 support for network, server, and desktop related issues. Occasional travel may be necessary.
The server administrator is responsible for administering Intel based windows Servers, defining architecture, routine backups, patches and upgrades, daily reviews of log files and server monitoring. The Server Administrator plans and oversees the development and performance of the operating systems. In addition, this position will define strategies and policies relating to the Windows Servers and putting proper procedures in place to implement those strategies and policies.
Manage DHCP, DNS, IIS, E-mail service, replication service and print service for Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008. Manage Active Directory, Exchange 2007, Support and maintain a large farm of Windows Servers in a virtualized environment Provide assistance to Support Staff for issues relating to clients Document and maintain procedures and deploy solutions Investigate new technologies that will improve efficiency and solve problems Obtain certifications related to position and demonstrate motivation on education outside of experience Maintain existing documentation relevant to IT Services Focus on dynamic solutions to automate processes via Administrative Scripting (VBScript, Perl, etc) Microsoft Windows Servers 2008/2003 Microsoft Active Directory and Domain to include TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS. Group Policy Microsoft Exchange 2010/2007 Microsoft Hyper-V & VMWare Microsoft Clustering/Network based load balancing Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) Microsoft Data Protection Manager 2010/2012 for backup and recovery Microsoft System Center Operation Manager 2007/2012 Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007/2012 Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor (4-year) degree, with a technical major, such as computer science or CIS. Preferred technical certifications (MCSE in Windows Server 2003, A+, CCNA, Server Administrator 2008, CCA) 5 years of System Administration experience in a Datacenter Environment. A passion to learn new technologies Demonstrated ability to work independently and troubleshoot problems with speed and efficiency. Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written. Must have on-call availability
