Wireless Comms Architect
The Mobile and Communications Group is looking for a tablet and smart-phone wireless communications architect to join the MCG Platform Architecture team. In this position, you will work with planning and platform engineering teams to define new wireless features for any of the following example radios: 4G cellular, WiFi, BT, GNSS, FM, NFC, and multi-comms. You will specify the architecture for the integration of these features on tablets and smart-phone platforms, which may include the specification of H/W and S/W architecture for next-gen features, such as S/W stack partitioning; interfaces; power delivery mechanisms; memory architecture; clocking; integration with related features such as audio, telephony, and video; and RF issues both at the platform and device level. You will work with engineering development teams to identify key architecture issues, analyze, simulate, and prototype select concepts to show feasibility or optimize power/performance. In addition, you will be responsible for initiating and providing technical guidance on joint path-finding projects with Intel Labs or external organizations on emerging communications technologies. Excellent problem solving, communication skills, and ability to work globally across organizations and sites is needed.
Bachelors Degree with 9+ years of experience/Master's degree with 6+ years of experience or a PhD with 4+ years of experience. Degree earned in engineering with industry architecture experience with an emphasis on wireless communications subsystems.
Must have experience in cellular modem, wireless connectivity, new communication trends, comms software implementation, and SoC architecture concepts for low-power devices such as tablets or smart-phones, and knowledge of wireless systems on such platforms.
Experience must include the following skills:
Working knowledge of communications protocols (LTE, WiFi, BT, GNSS, NFC, FM) on SoC low-power devices
Experience in coexistence issues, platform noise mitigation, and antenna placement in tablets or smartphone a plus
Demonstrate ability to prototype, debug, and optimize communications software and/or hardware on a device such as a tablet or smart-phone.
