If so, the Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of Justice Programs, (OJP), is seeking a high performing individual to serve as a Supervisory Grants Management Specialist. For more than 20 years, OJP has effectively provided leadership in developing the nation's capacity to prevent and control crime, improving the criminal and juvenile justice systems, increasing knowledge about crime and related issues, assisting crime victims. OJP continues to be the premier resource for the nation's criminal and juvenile justice communites. OJP's role is to work in partnership with the justice community to identify challenges confronting the justice system and to provide state-of-the-art information, training, funding and innovative approaches and strategies for addressing those challenges.

This position is located in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), Communications Unit (CU) within the Innovation and Research Division. The incumbent serves as a writer-editor.

Reviews material for clarity of expression, accuracy, timeliness, completeness, and responsiveness to agency and audience communications needs. Performs reviews for policy implications, and tone. Reviews reports to ensure they are properly referenced and data and analyses are supported.
Edits materials prepared by others. Corrects problems with grammar, and ensures clear and appropriate language, compliance with agency style, and proper presentation. Manages changes and coordinates required agency staff reviews through completion of the product. Approves final product for review and approval by agency leadership.
Acts in a quality control capacity by conducting substantive reviews of documents to identify report inconsistencies. Identifies instances in which conclusions are not well articulated or well supported. Generally attempts to ensure the report has appropriate tone and messaging throughout.
Utilizes a high-level of expertise to write information on important policies, functions, and topics with a broad impact on the direction of agency programs, such as program assessment reports, research studies, and reports to Congress. Responsible for editing all agency solicitations.
Writes briefing materials, speeches, and talking points in a variety of formats for agency leadership, based on agency policy, priorities, programs, and research findings. Works closely with program staff to identify data and information sources as well as policy issues and program content to highlight. Consults with agency leadership and subject matter experts to ensure materials drafted reflect the most salient information, key messages, and the speaker's style.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: (The KSAs below may not apply at all grades)
Translated complex content and technical material into written products easily accessible to a range of audiences.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
Wrote or edited various products to communicate agency's programs, policies and research findings.
Knowledge of the principles and techniques of editing and effective communications.
Recommended and interpreted agency editorial policies and procedures.
Produced speeches and other written materials that accurately and clearly articulated the policies, programs, and priorities of the agency.

MINIMUM FEDERAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Grade 12: Qualifying experience for the GS-12 level includes one year of specialized experience at least equivalent to the GS-11 level which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Grade 13: Qualifying experience for the GS-13 level includes one year of specialized experience at least equivalent to the GS-12 level which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
