JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Tribal Youth Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating programs for youth ages 12 – 17, of the ACBCI Tribal Community, acting as a mentor, supporting the growth and potential of Tribal youth. Interactions will involve prevention and intervention dealing with issues such as, but not limited to, substance abuse, violence, motivation, connection to culture, the need for education, etc.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Research and develop youth programs.
Plan and implement youth activities.
- Assess the program requirements of Tribal youth
Communicate with youth to determine their needs and interests
Communicate with organizations that represent youth to determine needs and interests of youth
Access funding and prepare funding proposals
Ensure a variety of sport, recreation, cultural, leadership, and fundraising programs are planned and implemented
Ensure program information is available
Evaluate the effectiveness of programs
Identify areas where new programs are needed
- Schedule activities, facilities and volunteers as required
Supervise and lead activities for youth
Recruit, train and oversee volunteers
Encourage Tribal youth to participate in regional and territorial programs
Ensure timely notification of all youth programs
Support of and assist Miss Agua Caliente in community obligations
Prepare a plan for youth activities
Record information on and prepare reports concerning youth programs, costs, numbers of participants and equipment and facility use
Provide monthly and yearly reports about youth programs and opportunities
Ensure that all programs and activities are implemented according to relevant policies and procedures.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Minimum three years experience working with young people, in either paid or voluntary capacity such as a Boys and Girls Club or similar capacity.
Experience working with Native American Population preferred
Must possess excellent computer skills with a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
Must possess strong decision making, and analytical and problem solving skill
Must possess effective verbal, presentation and communication skills.
Ability to administer youth programs.
Basic counseling mediation and negotiations skills
Must possess a valid CA driver’s license.
Must be able to pass a thorough background and driving record check.
