The University is accepting applications for Yoga/Pilates/Tai Chi on a regular basis. When a position comes available, your application will be considered in the applicant pool. Instructor will teach a variety of group fitness classes safely & effectively. Teaching group fitness classes will emphasis cardiovascular, muscular conditioning & flexibility exercises, as well as safety, exercise modifications, intensity levels & participant encouragement. Instructors will be assigned to work a set schedule of classes for the duration of the semester or the length of the schedule. The Instructor will oversee, and supervise all activities that take place directly prior to, during & after the class they teach. The instructor will also be responsible for printing their class roster in a timely manner, completing all necessary paperwork & documentation for each class, adhere to & enforce all policies & procedures of the Fitness Department & attend all meetings & trainings. Decisions, ideas, and class direction/choreography will be the responsibility of the individual in compliance with class description. Programs and ideas must conform to the accepted best practices as outlined by the AFAA and other professional standards. Instructor will have direct contact with students & faculty/staff members of the Fitness & Wellness Center, including other instructors & all Campus Recreation Professional & student staff. Occasional contact outside of the Recreation facility while serving as presenter or host for events or programs for other University departments.
Minimum Licensure/Certification Qualifications:
Yoga/Pilates/Tai Chi Instructor must maintain a current CPR, AED and First Aid certification. Must have Yoga, Pilates or Tai Chi Instructor Certification and/or have a year or more of teaching Yoga, Pilates and/or Tai Chi classes.
