Under the direction of the Parks and Recreation Department, this position assists in planning and organizing youth summer activities and programs. This is a part-time seasonal position, generally for the summer months only.
Essential Job Functions:
Leads youth program activities including sports and fine arts activities; supervising youth while swimming; attending field trips; leading community service projects; and, leading team building exercises.
Maintains parent communication including answering questions; discussing behavior concerns; and, reminding parents about upcoming events and activities.
Performs and maintains safety precautions including CPR and First Aid; fire drills; and, site checks.
Education and Experience:
Minimum age is 16 and completion of tenth grade. Experience or desire to work with children and parents.
Possession of a valid Class C Texas drivers license with a good driving record and ability to maintain while employed is preferred.
Ability to obtain American Heart Association CPR and First Aid certifications.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to effectively communicate with staff, children, parents, and the public. Skill in organizing and implementing program activities.
Ability to successfully complete all pre-employment and background checks.
Will be required to work Monday through Friday (with shifts varying from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.) beginning in June 2013. Must be able to attend orientation which will be scheduled in May 2013.
