What is Indeed Assessments?

Indeed Assessments offers both ready-to-go and custom candidate assessments to help you quickly see which candidates have the skills you need. Indeed Assessments lets you send skills tests to candidates and then see how candidates perform in relation to other candidates that have taken the same assessment. To see what kinds of assessments we offer, review the test module library on our website.

How does Indeed Assessments work?

You can use Indeed Assessments in two ways. First, you can include Indeed Assessments on jobs you post directly on Indeed. Second, you can register for the Indeed Assessments standalone platform. The Indeed Assessments standalone platform lets you create customized assessments, invite candidates to take assessments and integrate Indeed Assessments with leading applicant tracking systems.

How much does Indeed Assessments cost?

Indeed Assessments is completely free* for both employers and people looking for jobs.

Can I have multiple administrators?

If you’re using the Indeed standalone platform - Yes! Go to the icon in the upper right corner, choose Administrators and then click the “Invite a new administrator” button on the upper right of the page. Enter the details on the next page and click Save. The newly added administrator will receive a system-generated email with a link to create their password.

Am I guaranteed a great candidate if I use Indeed Assessments?

Indeed Assessments is meant to be a skills screening tool rather than a selection tool. Scores on assessments should, therefore, be considered within the whole of your hiring process, rather than used solely to make hiring decisions.

What is an assessment?

An assessment is a collection of one or more test modules that you’d like to send to a candidate.

How do I create an assessment?

To create a new assessment in the standalone version of Indeed Assessments, select Create Assessment on the upper right-hand side of the page. To add test modules to an existing assessment, select the assessment you want to edit. Then use the drop down menu on the right-hand side of the page to add to an existing assessment.

How do I send assessments to candidates?

In the standalone platform, simply share the assessment invitation link with the candidate. Candidates will get an email with a unique link to the assessment. When they click the link, candidates will be prompted to create an account and will then be able to take all of the test modules in the assessment. When posting a new job and adding assessments to it, you can choose to send an assessment to all candidates automatically when they apply. You can also choose to review candidates first, and send certain candidates an assessment manually.

How long will it take candidates to complete an assessment?

While the length of an assessment can vary, most test modules take an average of 10 min or less. For example, if you’ve opted to combine two 10-minute test modules, your assessment could take candidates a total of 20 minutes to complete.

How many assessments should I send?

From our experience, candidate abandonment increases after the 30-minute mark. In the standalone platform, where you can combine test modules to create customized assessments, we suggest keeping the total time of any assessments you send to under 30 minutes. We’ll also offer a warning message when combining test modules that will exceed 30 minutes.

Can I create my own (custom) assessments?

Absolutely! You can use the standalone platform to combine test modules and create unique assessments. You can also use the standalone platform to create your own completely custom test modules. We recommend using descriptive names for your custom assessments to help you keep track of them.

In what languages are assessments offered?

At the moment, we offer a few assessments to gauge a native English speaker's foreign language ability. If you have a test you would like to create in a language other than U.S. English, you can build your own in the custom test builder located in the Indeed Assessments standalone platform.

Does Indeed Assessments offer phone screening?

Indeed Assessments offers audio interviews. These allow you to ask candidates any questions you'd like and listen to their answers on your schedule.

How do I see my candidates’ results?

In the standalone platform, a candidate profile will be generated for each candidate. Click on My Assessments in the navigation bar to view all of your assessments. Choose an assessment name to see a list of candidates that have completed the assessment(s).

For assessments added to jobs posted directly Indeed, you’ll see candidates’ scores in your Indeed employer dashboard. Summary results and a link to detailed results are available on the Candidate Details page, accessed by selecting a candidate from the Candidates tab. When a candidate completes an assessment, you’ll also receive an email with a summary of the candidate’s results and a link to view detailed results.

Do candidates see their assessment scores?

Candidates will not see their score when taking an assessment on behalf of an employer. Scores can only be seen by the employer that created and sent the assessment.

How do you prevent candidates from cheating?

While we can’t prevent candidates from having someone else take assessments for them, we do monitor for copies online of our questions and answers. As a security precaution, we do not allow anyone (including employers) to see answers to any of our pre-built assessments.

Can candidates retake assessments?

In the standalone platform, you can allow a candidate to retake an assessment. On the candidate’s profile, click on the assessment name and then use the drop-down menu, Options, to select Retake Assessment. If you’re using Indeed Assessments as part of posting a job to Indeed, you’ll need to contact customer support at employers@indeedassessments.com to request that a candidate be allowed to retake an assessment.

Is Indeed Assessments mobile friendly?

Most Indeed Assessments can be completed from mobile devices. Those that require the use of a laptop or desktop computer – such as Typing – include notices to switch devices. We do our best to put warnings in front of these assessments to give candidates the opportunity to switch devices.

ATS Integrations

Can I integrate my ATS with Indeed Assessments?

The standalone version of Indeed Assessments does offer ATS integrations. You can view the list of currently available integrations here. If you don’t see your ATS there, please feel free to reach out to us at employers@indeedassessments.com to request it. We can’t guarantee it will end up on our roadmap but we love to take customer feedback into consideration.

How do I set up my ATS integration?

To set up your ATS integration in the standalone platform, go to the icon in the upper right corner, then choose Integrations from the drop-down menu. Choose an integration and follow the instructions on the screen. The instructions vary between integrations so be sure to reach out to employers@indeedassessments.com if anything seems unclear.
