WHY TEST?

Fast, accurate typing ability is a necessary skill and common hiring prerequisite for administrative assistants, executive assistants, and other office professionals. Employers measure typing to gain insight into how well job candidates can quickly and accurately transcribe correspondence and documentation from drafts, copies, and audio recordings on a standard or 10-key keyboard.

On average, a professional typist types at 65 to 75 WPM (words per minute). More advanced, time-sensitive typing positions require 80 to 95 WPM. Employees with superior typing skills are able to finish work quickly, communicate efficiently, and, in general, save time on any work that requires typing.

Speedy typing saves minutes that turn into hours of saved time that employees are able to use for additional work, impacting the company’s bottom line.

The typing test predicts a job candidate’s ability to:

Use this typing test to quickly and easily assess the typing ability of entry-level or experienced candidates, especially administrative assistants, executive assistants, legal assistants, customer support staff, data entry clerks, medical transcriptionists, and any other positions requiring fast, accurate typing capabilities.
