Having recently celebrated a major milestone, Oliver, Senior National Account Manager in London, reflects on over half a decade of growth and partnership and shares what makes his work so rewarding
Looking back on six years at Indeed, it’s clear that my journey has been defined by a constant alignment with our mission to help people get jobs. I joined as an Account Manager, and as I have progressed to my current role as a Senior National Account Manager, that sense of shared purpose has remained the anchor of everything I do. It’s rare to find a workplace where everyone is pulling in the same direction with such genuine care. That combination of ambition and support is exactly what has kept me inspired for over half a decade.
My most remarkable memory from these years was undoubtedly the opportunity to support the National Health Service (NHS) during the pandemic. The NHS is the publicly funded healthcare system in the United Kingdom. At a time when the country needed its health service more than ever, I worked alongside NHS trusts to help them attract essential talent. Seeing someone realise there was a place for them in the NHS brought our mission to life in the most tangible way possible. It reminded me that the work we do has a ripple effect that goes far beyond a simple transaction; it helps build stronger, happier, and healthier communities.
That deep connection to our mission continues today through my work with Central Government organisations across the UK. I am currently supporting critical hiring needs for the Ministry of Defence. When you are helping to recruit the people who serve and protect the country, the importance of getting the right person into the right role couldn't be clearer. Knowing that our efforts help people find roles where they can truly thrive is what keeps the work exciting every single day.
One of the most valuable lessons I have learned during my tenure is the importance of embracing change. Indeed moves quickly and isn't afraid to evolve, especially now as we power our products with AI to deliver better hiring outcomes for our clients and change the lives of job seekers worldwide. I’ve seen my role, and the industry itself, transform in ways I couldn't have predicted when I started.
Leaning into that change rather than resisting it has made me a much better professional and it's allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and take on new challenges that have accelerated my career.
My growth here was made possible by leaders who truly embody the spirit of the company. I have been fortunate to work with people, who invested real time in my development. They didn't just manage my day-to-day tasks; they coached me, advocated for my progression, and trusted me with stretch opportunities that allowed me to think bigger. Having leaders who genuinely back you for the long term is one of the defining features of the culture here.
For those looking to join our team, my advice is to come with curiosity and a sincere connection to what we do. Indeed is a place where the best ideas can come from anyone, not just the most senior people in the room.
If you are just starting your journey, focus on building relationships early and take advantage of the generosity of the people around you. Don't wait for instructions; if you see a way to improve something or an area you want to explore, go after it. The trajectory for success is here for anyone willing to put themselves forward.
I am excited about the future. The alignment between our mission and the ambitions of our partners is remarkable. With powerful tools at our disposal and a culture that values both impact and innovation, the importance of our work has never been clearer. I am proud to be part of a team that continues to challenge the status quo to make hiring better for everyone.
