Zoila is a Senior Account Executive at Indeed, based in Austin, Texas. She covers the Latin American market (LATAM) with a focus on Mexico, bringing a perspective that is both global and deeply personal.
"As a first-generation immigrant, Indeed's mission feels very personal to me because I know what it means to build a career from the ground up in a new country."
Five years in, that connection hasn't faded. If anything, it has deepened.
A full-circle moment
Before joining Indeed, Zoila's last job was as a janitor in an office building in downtown Austin. That experience, she says, taught her humility, resilience, and how challenging it can be to rebuild a career in a new country while trying to find where her skills can create value.
It was her husband who first told her about a platform called Indeed. At the time, she didn't even know what the word meant in English. She learned it, created her profile, and started applying.
The job search wasn't easy. There were interviews, moments of discouragement, and stretches when nothing seemed to fit. During one of those moments, her father offered a piece of advice that changed everything: "You need to find the puzzle where you belong, the place where what you bring makes sense and creates impact."
She shifted her focus to companies expanding into global and LATAM markets, where her background, language, and regional experience could be an asset. That's how the opportunity at Indeed arrived.
When she eventually returned to the office after the pandemic, she recognized the address. The same building where she had once worked as a janitor was now the office where she was helping employers connect with talent and creating access to opportunities for others.
As she puts it: "That full-circle moment has stayed with me. For me, helping people get jobs is not just a mission statement. I know how deeply one opportunity can change someone's life."
Sales with a mission
Zoila's role goes well beyond closing deals. Her conversations with employers are rarely just about products or campaigns, they’re about understanding business goals, hiring challenges, and how to make better decisions to attract the right talent.
"For me, sales at Indeed is closely connected to our mission. When we help employers improve the way they hire, we are also helping create more access to opportunities for job seekers." she explains.
That connection between business impact and human impact is what makes the work meaningful.
Complexity, met with collaboration
Covering Mexico and LATAM means navigating complexity every day. Companies across the region operate in fast-changing, highly competitive markets. Some are growing rapidly, expanding into new territories, or trying to reach talent beyond their original scope. No two markets are the same.
One of the main challenges in LATAM is that the region is so diverse and cannot be treated as one single market. Each country, industry, and client has different hiring realities, business priorities, and levels of market maturity.
That requires a consultative approach: listening closely, bringing market insights, and tailoring recommendations to each client's specific goals. "Our role is to help clients move beyond transactional hiring and think more strategically about talent, growth, and business impact."
Zoila doesn't navigate that complexity alone. Her work depends on close alignment with colleagues who bring regional expertise, including a team based in Brazil, as well as Indeed's Global Enterprise Solutions teams.
"That collaboration is what allows us to connect local complexity with global perspective and ultimately support clients in a more strategic way."
The moment the mission becomes real
After five years, what keeps Zoila inspired isn't that milestone number or a title. It's the moments when the work translates into something tangible.
"The mission becomes real when a client is able to grow their team, enter a new market, or connect with candidates they may not have reached otherwise."
It is about access, dignity, mobility, and the possibility of changing someone's life through the right opportunity.
That sense of purpose, combined with the people she works with every day, is what has kept her connected to Indeed throughout her years of growth.
What it takes to thrive at Indeed
Zoila's advice for anyone considering a role at Indeed, especially in a regional market: understand not just the mission, but the business impact behind it.
"Bring your regional perspective with confidence, but also show how that perspective can connect to broader global challenges. For me, local insight becomes powerful when you can translate it into global impact."
