What does an Automotive Mechanic do?

An automotive mechanic is responsible for the diagnostic testing, inspections, maintenance and repairs of cars and small trucks. They work on all of the internal systems of a car, including engines and transmissions, and are increasingly responsible for the electronic systems in new cars, including steering and brakes. Automotive mechanics typically work for private businesses or are self-employed.
