How to become a Physical Therapist
The first step in becoming a physical therapist is to complete a bachelor's degree in a health-related field. Complete a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). Then you will need to pass the National Physical Therapist Examination (NPTE). Apply to a clinical residency program to receive additional training and gain experience. Finally, you will apply to become a board-certified specialist in a clinical specialty areas offered by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties.
