How to become a Senior Project Manager

A senior project manager is typically required to hold, at minimum, a bachelor's degree in business, project management or other related fields. A master's degree for this position is highly preferred. Proficiency in MS Project, PowerPoint and Excel are required for a senior project manager's post.

Aside from the educational qualifications, if a senior project manager has more certifications to his credit, it is always better. Certifications like the following help get a better prospect:

  • PMP, Project Management Professional: This certification is considered the most important and highly recognized certification course. To be eligible for the same, a person must have a 4 year degree and 4,500 hours of leading projects and 35 hours of project management education.
