How to become a Teaching Assistant

Most learning institutions do not have the requirement of formal education for the position of a teaching assistant. However, schools or education authorities may have their own set of requirements for the position. One must meet the basic requirement of being literate, good at calculations and should have good organizational skills. Having experience and the relevant qualification certificates in support of teaching and learning is an added advantage.

Freshly employed teaching assistants undergo an induction course to enable them to adapt to the learning environment of the school. In case the school has children with disabilities, the teaching assistant will undergo training to enable them to assist children with special needs.
