Pros

Good teachers, Positive environment, Hands-on training

Good combination of online and hands on training. The program included books that were relevant to the subject and helpful in my understanding of what the class was aiming to teach. They also brought in a wonderful expert for the Mindfulness session of the class. His name was Micheal Healy.

This was an excellent training, there were more than one trainer. They used specific trainers that were subject matter experts for each subject. This was a very necessary training.

There was an internal study group set up to train. No formal training was offered. A group of eligible employees met once a week to discuss the materials and took a online practice exam at the end to test knowledge.

Cons

Required travel and extensive study time.

Other comments

This was an excellent program and offered training in a variety of locations. It was a positive experience and I felt very supported throughout the process. I did have to travel out of state and drive in both rural and metropolitan areas in heavy traffic. The most enjoyable part of the training was meeting and connecting with other nurses who shared the same goals as myself. The director of the program was outstanding and remains a leader in the field to this day.

Excellent instructors for on-line and in class training. Flexible hours to allow working a full-time job while obtaining education. Recognition by physicians and co-workers for this specialized training.

3.0

Pros

Positive environment, Hands-on training, Classmates helped each other with study groups.

Cons

Little help with obtaining work; unfair tx of student who was a army medic with PTSD and alcohol abuse. He had excellent grades but I understand after he graduated he was not allowed to take the broads.

Other comments

The program failed to ensure that the student got cooperation from doctors and programs to which they were assigned. My first rotation at Fort Benning, GA. In Surgery the Physician told me he didn't ask for a student and never spent a minute with me in the 30 days. If it had not been for the Army PA and another general surgeon and the ENT surgeon I would not have had a grade. I made rotations daily by myself, read, and asked to be in on surgeries with others. It was the only C I made.

Pros

Flexible class hours, Good teachers, Helpful career services, Positive environment, Good career preparation, Hands-on training

Other comments

Great class, reputable instructors, challenging, great atmosphere. Teachers could definitely do more to use the feedback given to them. They didn't make many adjustments over 10 weeks.

Pros

Good teachers, Positive environment, Good career preparation, Hands-on training

Cons

I was 4 hours away. Therefore, had to make living arrangements while attending.

Other comments

First 5 weeks didactic, the last 4 weeks precepting. The hardest part was being away from the family. The certification is rewarding. Learned wounds.
