International Open Academy ‐ Certifications, Cost, and Reviews

International Open Academy (IOA) is on an online school that provides more than 120 courses of study. The digital courses can be taken from any internet-connected device. They feature a combination of multi-media modules, assessments and, in some cases, practical exercise. Students who complete a course with evaluation scores of 55% or higher receive certificates of completion that can be downloaded as soon as a course has been completed.

IOA courses are divided into two categories: Lifestyle and vocational. Lifestyle courses are designed to help people cultivate new skills and hobbies or a topic that they are passionate about.

The courses are designed by professional online educators who have expertise in a variety of course-appropriate fields. All IAO courses are accredited through the International Council for Online Educational Standards (ICOES). The IAO is a member of the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Certification Service, and accredited courses taken through IAO count toward students’ CPD credit hours. The school also is an approved Training Qualification UK (TQUK) center.

Once a course is purchased through IAO, students have one year to activate the course. Once a course is started, it must be completed within 60 days. The courses cost between $100 and $120 each, and IAO recommends planning between 30 and 160 hours of study, depending on the course. Courses can be taken at any time of day or night, and the school has 24-hour customer service, with an average of 24- to 48-hour email response time, to accommodate students around the clock. All course materials are provided, meaning there are no additional costs beyond the initial cost of the course. Beyond the free downloadable certificate of course completion, IAO students can request additional documents, such as mailed certificates of completion, proof of study letters and eTranscripts, for a fee.

Anyone is eligible to take courses through IAO. The school does not have any entrance requirements or ask for any entrance exam scores. Courses are designed for beginner students, so previous study within a course area is not necessary. Everything was online which made it easy and though there is a time limit on the course you can work on it as hard as you would like and for as long as you would like, as long as it does not exceed the time given to complete. There is also a lot of reading involved which can become cumbersome but it is worth it in the end.

Very good classes. You can learn at your own pace. The test ls at the end of the courses are not hard. If you need an extension you just pay a small fee.
