Good combination of classroom and restaurant experience. Money handling chef skills and more experience with other food items governing the store and employees.

Good hands on training. l enjoyed the online course as well. I learned a lot. I’m still learning from taking the online course. I would highly recommend the course if you're in food service.

The class is worth taking. The certificate is good for five years and it for any restaurant. The class teaches you a lot bout food safe and food allergy.

Pros

Other comments

More classroom, than hands on experience. The class was only a week (8 hours each day) but the company paid for it. The teacher was decent but ignorant.

Cons

Inconvenient class schedules and it cuts right into our shifts at work, so you’re actually losing money, while trying to gain it.

The type of studying for the ServSafe exam that I encountered could have possibly gone either way, depending on which type of teaching methods a person is more comfortable with learning from. My teachings were meant for me to learn on my own at home, and then follow up with more teaching in a classroom setting. Perhaps a suggestion I would give, is to possibly find out the students’ learning preferences first, and then let the student decide which way would help them retain that information better for themselves, and then take it from there. However, I had a reasonably productive method of teaching for my learning style, so thankfully my gaining the certificate was a success.

Pros

Good career preparation

Cons

Lack of time management

Other comments

Too much information to do in one day. You need to break it up into more than one day. It is a lot of information to learn in 8 hours and then take a test on.

Its something worth having. You learn what you need to know about temperatures on food, how to handle the food so noone ends up sick. It's your basic food handling program.
