I went to school Monday through Friday 7 am-3:30 pm. For 3 years... I loved the process of helping students learn. From training of book smarts and technical knowledge to mathematics of all level were done by book and their computer rooms, to taking that knowledge to hands on ability thru the week and then each Friday would be a test on the different topics and trades within Commercial and Residential construction. I recommend to every one

Cons

Not a lot of people take it serious.

First we had to learn basic safety hand signals proper PPE and how to wire it then once. I made it to carpentry 1 too. We were able to design and draw blueprints and build houses on scale. Once I made the carpentry 2, we were able to use tools in large machines but if we was not passing quizzes and test we were not allowed to do hands-on. I loved it. It was fun. I learned a lot and I would make recommend it to anybody.

Pros

Good teachers, Helpful career services, Positive environment, Hands-on training

Cons

When the instructor didn't come to work.

Other comments

We would first do our book work and at the end of the week the instructor will give us a test on what we learned and we would do that until we finish the module, etc. Then after we finish the book he'll take us in the shop for hands-on training. The shop was very clean and well ventilated. Not being able to stay longer like after class when it's time to go. Showing my class mate how to do something I know how to do which they don't. Vice - VĂ©rse.

Good positive and very interesting, good instructor and the hardest part was using your off time to get it done. I learned hand signals on how to flag cranes and forklifts and trucks and also learned verbal flagging Technics.

NCCER is a great correspondence course offered through different employers providing you with the knowledge needed to become a skilled worker. As an apprentice in this program you can still make good money while working

Pros

Affordable

Other comments

Not very hands on. Just a bunch of book work that doesn't help if you don't learn hands on as you read through the training book. There was no assistance in finding work after you got the cert.

Lot of the job learning. Get ready to study a lot. Knowing geometry helps but a having an artistic mind goes a long way. Blueprint ISO's with rolling offsets gave me the most trouble.

Good hands on learning. Teacher is willing to help out with every way possible. Also if one can't make it in they are willing to let you make up that day somehow.
